School Bus Crash in Greenacres Sends Girl to Hospital

A breaking report from The Palm Beach Post describes an accident involving a school bus and a white sport utility vehicle in Greenacres at 7:47 a.m. this morning.

One girl was hospitalized and several other passengers suffered minor injuries. Palm Beach County School District spokesman Owen Torres said the girl is expected to recover without major incident.

According to the report, the SUV sustained front-end damage described as extensive and the school bus had minor damage to its rear end. At the time of the report neither the victims names nor the names of the school bus and SUV drivers had been released.

The collision took place on Lake Worth Road and 57th Avenue as the children were en route to Diamond View and Heritage elementary schools.

As of 8:20 a.m., the eastbound lanes of Lake Worth Road were closed as the wreckage was being cleaned up. Officials expect the road to reopen shortly.
