Nissan Airbag Recall May Affect 1 Million Vehicles

Japanese automaker Nissan has just issued a recall notice that may affect more than 1 million of it’s sedans, SUV’s and taxi models.

According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a problem with the software of select 2013 and 2014 model vehicles is preventing the airbag system from detecting if an adult passenger is sitting in the front passenger seat. This may cause the airbag to not deploy in the event of a collision.

The company is in the process of notifying its customers of the recall and is expected to begin the recall in mid-April, 2014. Dealers will also be instructed to reprogram the airbag system free of charge for owners of vehicles that are affected.

This list includes:

  • Infiniti QX50 (2014 model)
  • Infiniti JX35 (2013 model)
  • NV200 Taxi (2013 model)
  • Nissan Pathfinder (2013 and 2014 models)
  • Nissan Leaf (2013 and 2014 models)
  • Nissan Altima (2013 and 2014 models)
  • Nissan Sentra (2013 and 2014 models)

This recall comes in the wake of a series of recall from automaker GM, as the public begins to place further scrutiny on the quality of vehicles that are currently being sold in the United States.

If you or someone you love has sustained a serious personal injury in a vehicle after an airbag did not deploy in a collision, you may be entitled to file a damages lawsuit.
