Gordon and Doner Law Team with Catholic Charities
Gordon & Doner law firm gave needy families something extra to be thankful for this Thanksgiving when they distributed $5,000 worth of grocery store gift cards to more than 200 Catholic Charities clients.
When attorneys at Gordon & Doner, a prominent personal injury law firm serving Palm Beach, Broward and the Treasure Coast, learned about the needs of Catholic Charities' clients, they stepped in to make sure Thanksgiving would happen.
"We are very familiar with all the hard work Catholic Charities provides our communities so when we heard they were overloaded with requests of every kind this year, we stepped in to see how we could help. We're happy to see our donation helping so many families this Thanksgiving," says Dan Williams, partner at Gordon & Doner.
"Catholic Charities' clients have suffered immeasurably during this recession. Our offices are inundated with calls for help for everything from rent and utilities to food. We knew that many of our families would do without this Thanksgiving," says Diann Jasinski, Associate Director of Catholic Charities.
Williams continues, "We realize what diverse populations Catholic Charities serves through its programs. It's a clientele much like our firm's and really much like the face of South Florida. People from Burma, Vietnam, Iraq, Colombia and Haiti are living here now. Not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving in a traditional way so we knew that distributing turkeys might not fill the bill for these families."
Catholic Charities will make good use of gift cards and distribute them through its outreach and immigration center in Indiantown, the Wellness nursing program in Ft. Pierce, the Elder Affairs and Refugee Resettlement programs in West Palm Beach and three after school centers in Belle Glade, Pahokee and Riviera Beach.
"We're so grateful to Gordon and Doner. Their help has given our clients something to really celebrate this Thanksgiving," adds Jasinski.
