Fish to Help Feed Over 250 Homeless
On May 22, 2010 the law firm of Gordon & Doner participated in the 10th annual Palm Beach County Justice Association Fishing Tournament. The Tournament benefits the Palm Beach County Fishing Foundation's annual "Kids' Fishing Day Program" providing hundreds of underprivileged children with the chance to experience saltwater fishing and learn about marine education.
The law firm of Gordon & Doner not only took first place in the fishing tournament, but they also donated over 100 pounds of their award-winning kingfish and tuna to the St. George Center, a food bank run by the St. George's Episcopal Church. The fish donation will help feed over 250 homeless people in the Riviera Beach community. "It's very nice to see a law firm like Gordon & Doner help in feeding the homeless members of our community," said Donny on behalf of the St. George's Episcopal Church.
"At the end of the day, it's not about winning tournaments - it's about giving back to the community, especially the homeless," said Maaz Quraishi, attorney with Gordon & Doner.
The Gordon & Doner fishing team won first place overall in the tournament for heaviest combined tuna and kingfish weight. The Team also won 3rd place for the largest kingfish and 3rd place for the largest blackfin tuna. The one-day Tournament consisted of over 100 anglers and 25 boats out of Lake Park Marina, in Lake Park, Florida. The eligible species were Kingfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, and Tuna.
The fishing team consisted of Maaz Quraishi, Jonathan Birkman, Willie Hollander, Chris Agardy, and Marsad Quraishi.
