Announcing the 2009 Loggerhead Triathlon

Jupiter, Florida- (06/02/09) - For the twenty fourth year, the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Loggerhead Triathlon in conjunction with the Triathlon Club of the Palm Beaches. This year's event is being sponsored by Gordon and Doner and will take place at 7am Saturday, August 8, 2009. On this day, athletes will tackle a 3/8 mile swim in the Atlantic Ocean , a 13 mile bike ride and a 5 kilometer one on A1A in Jupiter. Athletes may enter individually or participate with two others as a relay team.

Competitors and race enthusiasts can attend the 5th Annual Sports & Fitness Expo the day before the race on Friday, August 7 at the Jupiter Beach Resort. In addition to competitors be able to pick up their participant packet which includes their race shirt, race number and important race-day information, the Sports & Fitness Expo will feature a number of companies specializing in sporting goods and automobiles, health foods and other industries important to a healthy lifestyle. Also at the Expo, new competitors to the Loggerhead Triathlon will be given a "First Timer" seminar. The 5th Annual Sports & Fitness Expo will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Dr. Alex Keith, president of the Triathlon Club and race director states, "This triathlon is something that hundreds of people look forward to each year. We at the Triathlon Club of the Palm Beaches are excited to partner with the Chamber to make this event happen for the twenty fourth year. We expect another fantastic race!"

The Loggerhead Triathlon is one of the longest enduring triathlons in the state of Florida . Dating back to 1985, triathletes have made the trip to Jupiter year after year to enjoy the magnificent Oceanside setting, the family-friendly atmosphere, and the competition. Jointly presented by the Triathlon Club of the Palm Beaches and the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce, the event has become a "must do" on the southeast race circuit and has spawned some of the top triathletes in the United States.

Individual early bird entry fee for the Triathlon (through July 1 st ) is $60, from July 2-17 is $70, and from July 18-August 6 is $80. Athletes may apply at www.altavistasports.com . There will be no registration on race day, and the event is capped at 600 people. This event WILL SELL OUT!
