Senior Citizen Safety Event

Gordon & Doner Present at Senior Citizen Safety Event

Senior citizens from Delray Beach gathered to hear presenters speak about senior driver safety and alternative means of transportation on March 18. The event, which was held at Temple Emeth in Delray Beach, was hosted by the Dori Slosberg Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping drivers safe. Gordon & Doner attorney Adam Doner was invited to speak at the event along with the CEO of the Dori Slosberg Foundation, Irv Slosberg; Palm Beach County Commission Chairman, Burt Aaronson; Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office, Elizabeth Parker; Traffic Commander, Captain Patrick Kenny; Palm Tran representative Gloria Galloway, and Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles, Seargeant Mark Wysocky. Many community services were also at the event handing out safety items to the crowd, and the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles were available for attendees to update their driver's licenses and take eye exams.

The event successfully taught senior citizens that obeying driver laws and being aware of other drivers around them is what will keep them safe. As for those who do not drive, senior citizens learned of alternative methods of transportation which can be used to help keep their independence.

Thanks to The Dori Slosberg Foundation, and their efforts such as these, the State of Florida continues to reduce the number of traffic fatalities. In 2007 the fatalities were down by 6.5%, in 2007 the numbers were down 7% and the preliminary data from the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles states that Florida ended 2009 with a reduction of 14%, the lowest numbers in years.
