When Gordon & Doner attorney Tami R. Wolfe began practicing law, she worked with a law firm that represented insurance companies. She handled cases involving automobile accidents, construction litigation, slip and falls and other personal injuries.
Ms. Wolfe quickly realized her sympathies were more aligned with helping injured people than defending insurance companies.
"I just think plaintiffs need to have a voice against these big insurance companies that otherwise take advantage of people," Ms. Wolfe said. "I've seen it on both sides. There are some really good insurance companies that do the right thing, but there are also some other insurance companies that do not."
Now a respected and effective personal injury lawyer with Gordon & Doner, Ms. Wolfe is using her experience gained from representing insurance companies to advocate successfully for victims of medical malpractice, automobile accidents, nursing home neglect and other types of personal injury and wrongful death.
Ms. Wolfe grew up in Florida and was a psychology major at Florida Atlantic University. She has a particular interest in medical malpractice cases, whether they involve doctors, hospitals or other health care providers. She brings nearly 20 years of legal experience to focus on each case.
"I really like medical malpractice cases because of their complexity," Wolfe said. "I have placed a focus on cases where there is a catastrophic injury, a brain injury, or a death because that is where accident victims and families need the most help."
Ms. Wolfe received a law degree from Nova Southeastern University. While she was enrolled in law school, she became acquainted with the Guardian Ad Litem program, which provides independent advocates for abused and neglected children.
Ms. Wolfe was certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Guardian Ad Litem and voluntarily represented abused and neglected children in judicial proceedings for more than 15 years. In recognition of her legal service, she was named Guardian Ad Litem Pro Bono Volunteer of the year in 2001.
"I've always felt there was a need for somebody who was independent in that field and could look out for the best interests of the child," Ms. Wolfe said. "I started volunteering in my second year of law school. It's a wonderful program and really does look out for the children."
