Alcohol Suspected in Fatal Lake Worth Accident

On Saturday morning, one person was killed and another seriously injured in a Lake Worth accident that police believe was caused by drunk driving.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office, a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan was headed south on South C Street at a high rate of speed around 1:15 a.m. The vehicle collided with a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis attempting to turn left at 10th Avenue South.
The Volkswagen went airborne and two persons in the vehicle were ejected before the car crashed into a parked vehicle.
Al Charles, 23, was taken to St. Marys Medical Center where he died around 12:30 p.m. the following day. Dayna Apuzzo, 23, of Lake Worth, was also ejected in the crash and is listed in serious condition.
Yves Janac was driving the Volkswagen and sustained minor injuries. It is believed that Janac may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Mercury Grand Marquis and another passenger in the Volkswagen were not injured at the time of the accident.
