The Florida Turnpike had quite a backup of southbound traffic yesterday evening, as a multi-vehicle collision occurred between Stirling Road and Interstate-595. The Turnpike lanes in this area were closed between the hour of 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., as public officials helped to clean up the mess and get the injured parties to some kind of medical care.
The crash involved a box truck, a tractor-trailer, and an SUV, as well as three additional vehicles. The officials on scene were forced to close all four southbound lanes on the Turnpike, causing a substantial delay for many South Florida commuters.
The Florida Highway Patrol was on scene to investigation the collision, the injuries, and the likely causes of the crash. While no accident victims suffered any life-threatening injuries, two of those involved in the accident were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, which is located in Hollywood, FL.
