A man has been arrested after being identified by the elderly woman he was accused of raping on Nov. 30, 2013.
The 77-year-old woman who reported she was forcibly molested in her own bed several months ago cooperated with investigators to recover DNA from the scene and trace a phone call, leading officers to 58-year-old James Evans of West Palm Beach.
The victim said Evans climbed into an open window, performed multiple sex acts on her and only stopped when she pleaded with him to get a drink of water. Evans lives in the same seniors' community as the victim and took a business card before leaving. Evans called the victim several days after she reported the crime and investigators were able to trace the call.
Evans is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of sexual battery, burglary with assault and false imprisonment.
