Eleven-year-old Jacklyn Tucker is recovering after being bitten in the face by a dog while sleeping over a friends home.
The dog, a Jack Russell Terrier and English Bulldog mix, was immediately surrendered to Animal Care and Control where it is in a 10-day quarantine, after which the dog will likely be euthanized.
Tucker fell off her friends couch and when she got up, the dog was growling and standing in front of her. The dog jumped on Tucker, biting her side and her face. The damage was so severe to her upper lip and nose that Tucker was required to undergo plastic surgery.
Dog bites are responsible for almost 5 million injuries each year. Unfortunately, many of these dog bite injuries occur in children.
