Suspected Carjacker Involved in Rollover Crash that Closes I-95 On-ramps on Okeechobee Blvd

A suspected carjacker caused the on-ramps to I-95 to close yesterday evening after the Nissan Xterra he was driving struck the median, causing the vehicle to turn over as he was exiting northbound from Okeechobee Blvd. The man has not been injured and was taken into police custody.

Traffic lanes near Okeechobee Boulevard and I-95 are open again as emergency crews have cleared the scene of a rollover crash, a West Palm Beach police spokesman said.

A man believed to have been involved in a carjacking in the city crashed a Nissan Xterra as he exited northbound I-95 from Okeechobee, said Sgt. Dave Lefont, spokesman for West Palm Beach police. The suspect struck the median on Okeechobee and caused the vehicle to overturn.

He was not injured and has been taken into police custody, Lefont said.
