A boating incident which occurred yesterday afternoon in St. Johns County left three accident victims waiting for help. Taking place on the shoals north of Matanzas inlet, the St. Johns County Fire Rescue arrived on scene to save three people who were all wearing personal floatation devices.
The St. Johns County fire officials responded to the accident which occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. When they rescue team arrived on scene, they reported to having found a 16-foot fishing boat in the surf, which was unmanned, and another fishing boat which was helping one person from the sandbar and another two from the water.
According to the report, one of the three people was suffering from a heart attack. This person was taken to Flagler Hospital for care and was in critical condition. The other two reported no injuries. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission are currently investigating the details of the incident.
