Leading his UConn basketball team to three national championships, Jim Calhoun is known for his prowess on the basketball court. Unfortunately, Calhoun did not have the type of good fortune his past basketball teams have had this past Saturday. While on a bike ride in Madison, the 70-year-old basketball coach fractured his hip in a bicycle accident.
The bicycle accident occurred after Calhoun hit a patch of sand and fell off of his bike. Calhoun, who was taken to UConn Health Center in Farmington following the bicycle accident, underwent surgery on Saturday night to repair his fractured left hip.
While Calhoun is expected to leave the hospital within the next few days, this injury follows what seems to be a string of health complications for the celebrated UConn coach. Calhoun suffered from another bicycle accident back in 2009 when he fell and broke several ribs.
In addition to the bicycle accidents , Calhoun has had a rough few years surviving both skin and prostate cancer. However, his family, players, and members of the UConn community all know that he will fight through this injury much like he has in the past.
If you or a loved one has suffered from a bicycle accident, the bicycle injury lawyers at Gordon & Doner will fight for you compensation for pain and suffering. Complete the Free Case Review form on this page to schedule a no-obligation consultation.
