Kathleen and Stephen Miskell were vacationing on Pompano Beach just two weeks ago when the unthinkable happened. The couple decided to go parasailing and chose the excursion company Waveblast Watersports for the boat and boating equipment.
Once the couple were put on the boat and given the proper gear, they were lifted 200 feet into the air as the parasailed the seas near Pompano Beach. In an unexpected turn of events, Kathleens harness failed, sending her plummeting into the ocean.
In this tragic parasailing accident, Stephen, Kathleens husband, watched as his wife fell. She was found face down on the water in the ocean and was later pronounced dead at the hospital on August 15th, 2012. While reporters and lawyers gather information, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Coast Guard, and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the terrible events leading to the accident.
In an even further troubling twist, the captain of the boat, Casey Fuller, has a criminal record. While he does maintain a valid license, red flags have been raised in regard to the functionality and safety of the equipment used. The operator who assembled the equipment may be at fault.
