The class action lawyers at Gordon & Doner are currently investigating potential claims on behalf of consumers who purchased a Dorman oil cooler kit, a product sold at retailers such as NAPA, Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone and more.
The kit, with part number 904-228, is sold for use in Ford 6.0L Diesel Engines. The O-ring and gasket within the kit are believed to deteriorate into green or yellow particles that spread throughout an engine, causing expensive engine damage.
If you purchased this product and the gaskets or O-rings in your kit deteriorated and caused damage to your engine, you may be entitled to compensation.

Despite advertisements from the manufacturer that the kit has undergone rigorous quality control measures, it appears that individuals have suffered the damaging effects the deterioration of gaskets and O-rings within this product.
It is believed that as the product deteriorates, small green or yellow particles migrate throughout the engine, potentially clogging the oiling system as well as the injection pressure regulator (IPR) screen and preventing proper usage of the high pressure oil pump (HPOP) system.

Florida Resident Files Dorman Oil Cooler Kit Lawsuit
In May 2016, a lawsuit was filed against Dorman and NAPA Auto Parts, along with its parent company, Genuine Parts Company, alleging the companies knew or should have known the product was defective, yet acted negligently and failed to warn consumers.
According to the details of the lawsuit, a Hillsborough County man purchased a Dorman kit from NAPA in 2013 to install in his 2004 Ford F-350 truck. Several months later, the truck would not start because there was inadequate pressure in the HPOP system. Upon removing the IPR, the man found that the screen was clogged with green rubber-like particles and was torn.
After replacing the IPR screen, the man experienced the same situation five times over the course of the following year. Then, in December 2014, his truck unexpectedly shut down while driving on the highway. Green particles from a deteriorated oil cooler O-ring were once again found throughout the engine, including in an oil filter, which indicates that the debris cycled through the entire engine.
If you have experienced a similar situation in which your engine failed to function properly after components within a Dorman oil cooler kit failed or deteriorated, you may be entitled to compensation.
