Scott Mitchell Fischer joined the law offices of Gordon & Partners nearly 20 years ago after having spent a number of prior years working as a defense lawyer.
Scott is a competitor by nature. He is well known for passionately and aggressively advocating for the rights of his clients, including victims of nursing home abuse and neglect, hospital negligence, assisted living facility negligence and victims of serious motor vehicle accidents.
Scott handles cases all across the state of Florida.
Scott has an established track record of success. The defense industry is well aware of Scott’s abilities and they often try to settle cases to avoid facing him in Court. When cases do not settle out of Court, Scott is always well prepared to obtain justice for his clients at trial and he has obtained jury verdicts totaling many millions of dollars.
One of the biggest signs of neglect at health care facilities is bedsores. Scott has successfully resolved countless bedsore cases by settlement, binding arbitration and jury trials. In 2023, Scott obtained a $2,300,000 jury verdict against a nursing home in Gainesville, Florida for the development of a bedsore. The trial was broadcast on the Courtroom View Network and part of Scott’s closing argument can be seen in this video:
Another major sign of neglect at health care facilities is falls. Scott has also successfully resolved countless cases involving falls by settlement, binding arbitration and jury trials, including a recent jury trial he won in West Palm Beach, Florida against a hospital where Scott’s client fell out of a hospital bed and suffered a broken hip. The jury awarded over $900,000 to Scott’s client. That trial was also broadcast on the Courtroom View Network and part of Scott’s closing argument can be seen in this video:
Scott believes that every person’s life is valuable, including the most elderly members of the population. Scott recently conducted a three-week jury trial against an assisted living facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida for the wrongful death of a 97-year-old woman. The facility’s lawyers and experts claimed that the facility was not at fault for the death and that Scott’s client was at the end of her life expectancy. The jury agreed with Scott that elders have rights just like everyone else does and the trial resulted in a verdict of $6,000,000 for the 97-year-old’s wrongful death. Below is a video of a news story regarding the $6,000,000 verdict:
Scott is also competitive outside of the courtroom. He challenges himself with strenuous conditioning that includes running, swimming, boxing and weight training. Scott believes his clients are best represented by a lawyer who is both mentally and physically strong, empowering him to be laser-focused on winning cases.
Scott has handled many high-profile cases. Below are videos of investigative news reports from a few of Scott’s cases as well as links to numerous articles from some of Scott’s notable lawsuits and verdicts.
