Practice Areas: Labor and Employment Law
Karen Kahane was raised in New York and is an attorney with a civil trial practice dedicated to the pursuit of justice for Florida’s injured with a focus on labor and employment law. Ms. Kahane has been a labor and employment attorney since 1997, and practiced on the management-side representing employers for many years. This experience has given her a unique perspective and has enabled her to become a zealous advocate for individuals whom have suffered adverse employment actions in the workplace. Ms. Kahane has handled all types of employment-related matters, including claims for sex, race, national origin, age, disability and religious discrimination arising under the various civil rights laws, as well as claims involving family leave issues, wage hour matters and breach of contract.
Ms. Kahane graduated with distinction from Cornell University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in applied economics, business management and marketing. She was recognized as a member of the Dean’s List and the Pi Beta Phi sorority academic club, and served as a teaching assistant for courses in finance, communication arts, accounting and computer applications.
Ms. Kahane received her law and master of business administration degrees from the University of Florida, graduating summa cum laude in the top 1.5 percent of her class, and was the outstanding woman law graduate, a high honors graduate, editor of the Florida Law Review and recognized as a member of the Dean’s List and Order of the Coif. She received the American Jurisprudence Book Award for legal drafting and honors for legal research and writing, and served as a teaching assistant for legal research and writing. She served as an intern with the Ocala State Attorney’s Office while in law school, and upon graduation, had the honor and pleasure of serving as a judicial law clerk to The Honorable Susan H. Black on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ms. Kahane was admitted to practice in Florida in 1995. She is a member of the Florida Bar, the New York Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
During her free time, Ms. Kahane enjoys working out, listening to live music and spending time with her family, dog and cat.
