Kugel Mesh Hernia Patch Injuries
Created to repair ventral hernia, the hernia patch is implanted through a small incision and position behind the hernia. The patch's "memory coil ring" opens the patch in back of the herniated area. The patch is supposed to serve as an underneath lawyer, which allows the patient's own tissue to grow and asset in healing the hernia.
Unfortunately, increased stress during the placement process can cause the memory coil ring to break. The broken ends can poke through the mesh, creating bowel perforations, also known as a condition called chronic enteric fistulas.
Some of the Kugel Mesh Hernia Patch injury symptoms associated with a broken memory coil ring include:
- Persistent and unexplained abdominal pain
- Tenderness at the site of incision
