Another 403,000 Graco Child Car Seats Added To Recall

It has been announced that the child car seat manufacturer Graco is adding more than 403,000 to its existing recall of approximately 3.8 MILLION child car safety seats.
The problem has been attributed to a potentially deadly issue with the harness buckles that can be almost impossible to unlatch in some situations.
Despite this latest recall announcement, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is adamant that the recall does not go far enough.
In a statement from the NTHSA, the Administration is urging parents to use:
"an alternative infant seat for transporting children until their Graco car seat is fixed."
There has been at least one reported incident where the parents of a deceased child attribute the buckle of the car seat that caused the death of their infant.
It's believed that the unbuckling issue is due to dried food or juices that can become lodged in the buckle, which can cause them to malfunction. In an effort to remedy this issue, last summer Graco began sending customers updated cleaning and operating instructions, along with replacements buckles. The seat manufacturer also offers a video online which demonstrates how to replace the buckles of it's affected seats.
