Each year thousands of motorcyclists are injured in motorcycle accident s and hundreds more are involved in fatal accidents. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles there were more than 8,600 motorcycle smashes recorded in 2011 and more than 400 motorcyclists were killed in these accidents.
Learning proper riding form as well as the laws that govern motorcycle riding is important and can help prevent motorcycle accidents from occurring. In the state of Florida, riders are required to complete a training program in order to receive a motorcycle-only license or motorcycle endorsement on their license. The purpose of the program is to educate motorcyclists on safe and proper riding techniques before they hit the road. It is extremely important for all riders to educate themselves, particularly because Palm Beach, Martin, and Broward County have some of the highest incidences of motorcycle collisions throughout the state.
If you or a loved one has suffered from serious personal injuries after being involved in a motorcycle accident, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical bills, pain and suffering, and more.

Florida Rider Training Program
Established in 2008, the Florida Rider Training Program is a 15-hour basic rider course (BRC) that was developed in conjunction with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. When a rider completes the program they may also be entitled to premium insurance discounts.
The Basic Rider Course covers the following skills:
- Turning
- Stopping
- Straight-Line Riding
- Hazard Avoidance
Riders will likely receive a motorcycle and helmet for use during the BRC but they may need to provide further safety equipment such as gloves, footwear, and eyewear.
If a rider wants to freshen up their skills they may also enroll in an experienced rider course which will assist them in their cornering, swerving, and further motorcycle defensive driving techniques.
