As Florida families returned home from holiday trips, multiple traffic accidents occurred on Florida's Turnpike as well as Interstate 95. These accidents caused traffic jams as well as several serious injuries.

An accident blocking northbound lanes occurred on the Florida Turnpike near Donald Ross Road around 12:40 p.m. Lanes were cleared by 1:35 p.m., though backups persisted.
Rain caused a number of accidents in the Indian River County area of I-95, slowing traffic. Around 5 p.m., an accident occurred near mile marker 147, closing the southbound lanes.
A multi-vehicle crash resulted in several serious injuries in Martin County around 4:30 pm on the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike.
